New Zealand / Aotearoa Stage Name Database

The world wide burlesque industry has experienced significant growth and evolution over the years, resulting in a dynamic and ever-changing community.

If you are a performer from out side of Aotearoa looking for the stage name database scroll down the page to Advice to new Performers

The stage name database serves as a comprehensive resource to document all performers in NZ, along with their contact details and the date their stage name was first used.

This page serves two primary purposes:

  1. To provide a valuable resource for media, brides, hen/bachelorette parties and corporate clients seeking to engage performers for their events.
  2. To offer a reference for aspiring performers worldwide, enabling them to verify stage names and avoid duplicates or similarities within the global burlesque community.

For brides, hen/bachelorette parties, media, or those seeking corporate entertainment, this list serves as a direct line of communication to contact performers.

The list includes the performer’s region, stage name, availability for hen/bachelorette parties or corporate events, and their preferred contact details.

To navigate the full extent of the database, please utilise the sliders located at the bottom of the list, allowing you to scroll through and access additional details.

If you are a performer interested in being included in this valuable industry resource, please refer to the submission instructions provided below.

ENTRY Criteria & PROCESS

To be eligible for inclusion in the stage name database, performers must demonstrate active engagement in the burlesque industry by providing a valid website or Facebook business page.

This requirement serves to prevent the practice of “holding” or “reserving” stage names for potential future use without current involvement in the community.

It’s important to understand that while the name database is a valuable resource for performers and industry professionals, it does not confer any legal trademark protection for the registered stage names.

Database entry is completed in two steps.

Step 1: You use the submission form below to enter your details.
Step 2: Your details are checked by a volunteer and moved into the public facing spreadsheet.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

Q: My name is incorrect in the database – can you fix it?

A: Names, contact details, emails and websites are all maintained by the performer themselves. Click on the database page and edit in the document directly.

Q: I have two stage names, do I have two entries?

A: Yes. The logic is that they are separate entities and may have separate ‘first use dates’.

Q: What is the ‘first use date’?
A: This is the date you first performed, or the date the persona came into being. This is unique to you; no one can tell you your history.

Q: I haven’t got a website, what do I put in here?

A: It’s not a mandatory field so the sheet will still save without this information.

Q: Help! I have a problem with the Google sheet!

A: No worries, contact crystal@sfab.co.nz and they will help.
