Your guide in The Glam Lab
During the course, something shifted.
She walked into the women’s section on her own and chose something for herself.
That is what this work can look like.
Not just on a stage.
In small, everyday moments where your body feels safe enough to stay.
When TK first came to Sparkleforce, being seen felt uncomfortable.
She moved through 101 at her own pace.
Not to perform.
Just to begin feeling safer in her body.
At the end of the course, she chose to perform a burlesque routine for her 50th birthday.
Not because she had to.
Because she wanted to.
Afterwards, she shared something that stayed with me.
For years, she avoided buying underwear for herself. It did not feel comfortable to be in that space.
Q: Do I need dance experience?
A: No dance experience is not necessarily. We will teach you the foundations
Q: Do I need to be confident already?
A: No, we meet you where you are. Whether that be shy, nervous, anxious, excited, cautious.
Q: Do I have to perform?
A: No, there is not expectation that every student will perform. We work on an enthusiastic consent model, meaning if it's not a HELL YES! for you we will not ask you to push through this. Instead we will support you from the sidelines.
Q: What should I wear?
A: Comfortable clothes you can move in easily. Choose something you can bend, stretch and sit in without having to constantly adjust.
Q: Is this suitable if I feel nervous?
A: Yes. Feeling nervous is welcome here. We move gently, offer choices and do not ask you to push past your capacity.
Q: Is this therapy?
A: No this is not a replacement for medical or psychological advice.
Q: Is this online, in person, or both?
A: Both! If you select the online option this is the pre-recorded instant access. We also offer small groups in person in Lower Hutt.
Q: What if I miss a class?
A: If you have selected the pre-recorded instant access then you can do this in your own pace. If you are a part of the in person group then you will be offered to join the next in person class you missed.
Q: What happens after 101?
A: The next class in the sequence is 201 Foundational Burlesque and it builds on what we learn here.
Q: Is there a payment plan?
A: Not at the moment, we are working on this.
